Network issue on Semi-dedicated server (Resolved)
  • Priority - High
  • Affecting Other - Network

  • Since yesterday we have noticed intermittant database connectivity issues between the semi-dedicated server and the database server causing websites to throw errors.
After discussions with our provider it seems to be a network issue caused by the fact that they are in different locations and traffic goes across public network. This was an error on the part of our provider when setting up the servers as they should have been in the same location, and they have advised that the issue is due to increased traffic on the public network. The only way to resolve this is to clone the web server and move it to the same network as the db server and put then into same VLAN so that there is no latency as traffic will be direct between the servers.
This unfortunately will require an IP address change and thus a DNS update for all domains as the existing IP cannot be moved.
If all your domains are using our DNS servers then we will do all of this for you, and nothing will be required by you. if you have domains which are using other 3rd party DNS, then you would need to do the DNS change yourself, or provide us with the login details of your registrar so that we can do it for you. Please open a support ticket if this is the case.

The clone is in progress now, so all you need to do is make sure that no changes are made to any of your websites as from now until the DNS changes are complete, so that the clone is up to date.

The new IP address for the server is

DNS propagation issues (Resolved)
  • Priority - Medium

  • Yesterday there was a system-wide latency issue with some of ENOM's DNS servers; this is what caused the service interruption to some domains not responding to DNS requests. ENOM have reported that the issue has now been resolved.
